</html><description>1960 On February 4, 1960, the Ministry of Education announced the establishment of Thonburi Technical College, under the Technical College Division, Department of Vocational Education, accepting graduates from the Science Preparatory School to study for 3 years and receive a Vocational Certificate. It was the first technical college in Thailand to produce technicians from the highest graduates of the general education stream. It used a combined curriculum like Industrial Arts. In the first year, all subjects were the same, including construction, electrical, automotive, metalworking, and drafting. Six more general subjects were also provided: English, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, and economics, which was considered the starting point of the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering, KMUTT. 1971 King Mongkut&#x2019;s University of Technology Thonburi was established from Thonburi Technical College, which was a college under the Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, on February 4, 1960. In 1971, it merged with North Bangkok Technical College and Telecommunication Technical College to become King Mongkut&#x2019;s Institute of Technology under the Ministry of Education. Later in 1974, it was upgraded to a state higher education institution under the University Affairs Office. In 1986, King Mongkut&#x2019;s Institute of Technology Thonburi became a juristic person with the status of a department under the University Affairs Office in accordance with the King Mongkut&#x2019;s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut&#x2019;s Institute of Technology Thonburi, King Mongkut&#x2019;s Institute of Technology North Bangkok Act. 1998 At present, it has been changed to King Mongkut&#x2019;s University of Technology Thonburi according to the King Mongkut&#x2019;s University of Technology Thonburi Act B.E. 2541, which stipulates that it has the status of a state university that is not a government department but is under the supervision of the government and is a juristic person.
